The person in your conversation is now subconsciously picking up the vibe of respect. Appreciating the speaker and the points he/she is trying to make sends a positive vibe that can change the whole tenor of a conversation. Respect the speaker – We have become so quick to try to discredit a person, and we are losing the dignity of ideas and exchange. The power of being engaged with what is being said changes the conversation and tone. ![]() Look him/her in the eyes, and keep from crossing your arms because of the body language message you are sending. Focus your attention – The typical trap is to begin thinking about what you are going to say next when you are talking to someone. There are three basic things a person can do to become a more active listener and improve the process: We never really hear what the other person is saying because we are already processing what we are going to say next.īecause of the breakdown in listening, many people feel disrespected, which creates more conflict and misunderstanding. The typical process for many people today is to speak and then, in turn, wait to talk again. We may hear the word coming out of a person’s mouth, but we allow internal and external distractions to steal our focus. Also, as we have become more divided culturally, we are quick to put people in particular silos based on labels and “trigger” words. ![]() Social media has reduced one-on-one communication and has eliminated all the small social cues we get when we listen and talk face to face. We are bombarded with so much stimulation, noise, and digital overload that our attention span and ability to listen are becoming less and less.

What was a moment when you had to practice persistence and/or resilience while in the MBA program? I recently had to practice persistence and resilience throughout the entire month of March. I always loved attending Schnacks Week! Getting a moment to catch-up with classmates and staff while munching on the BEST snacks was a great way to get your evening started before heading to class. What was your favorite MBA event or tradition at Scheller? Furthermore, I was involved with spearheading a few committees related to DEI and training within my work group that were made possible with the skills I’ve picked up throughout the program. A course on Responsible Corporate Governance helped me better understand what matters to our board members and shareholders, so I was able to create decks that would be used in board meetings and lead projects that would have a direct impact on organizational activities. What activities were you involved with on or off campus, and did your business education impact those activities in any way? I had an employment transition from the public to private sector during my first year of the program, and my business education helped me immensely. In turn, this allows me to always bring my best self to work and influence those around me to do the same. It was also a great reminder that it’s okay to step away from the “grind” and focus on rest and self-care. It was such a phenomenal class that I still review the course content regularly and try to apply the concepts to my current organization. We analyzed present-day work concepts and how they could be reimagined to provide a more equitable and just workplace for everyone. Johnson made us all feel comfortable and led the class through wonderful thought-provoking discussions. This can be a touchy topic, but it’s incredibly important to have these discussions. This course was nothing like any other business course I had taken! Instead of a focus on common business topics such as financials or operations, we focused on the intersection of work, racial equity, and wellness. Hence the reason I became the first college graduate in my family and now the first MBA graduate! What was your favorite business course and why? Work, Equity, and Wellness with Dr. She has inspired me to create something even greater with my own life. And here we actually have the possibility to do a lot of research with professional scientists that look into how audio affects our brain." " And through them we actually have access to a big research center called Ericsholm in the northern of Zeeland in Denmark. And they have 115 years of experience doing hearing aid solutions for people all around the world." So as I mentioned before, we are owned by Demand. " It's not one thing you can point at, but it's our way of approaching product developments. How does it make the EPOS product line even better? Well, Brain Adapt for starters is a line of philosophers that we are using when developing our headsets." But for people that are not fans of side tone per se, an open acoustic is nice because you can actually hear yourself talking, right? So that's a nice way of doing it without using side tone." " What we also thought was, and I know Xbox they have introduced their monitoring where you can actually get side tone. So you would like to sit and play with that headset in a silent environment." The only thing with an open back is that when it's a noisy environment, you also get audio and sounds inside. " So for longer gameplay sessions, for most it will be more comfortable. And also it does add a little bit more of air to your ears." What it does is that it actually brings a more realistic audio experience and audio picture. The open acoustics is not something that is broadly known in the market. " The H6 Pro, open acoustics, is another story. We're really trying to bring this immersive experience through audio with our headsets." What we really believe, our philosophy, that adds to the gaming experience and the audio picture when you're playing. " We have our Brain Adapt that we'll talk about later on. It pretty much fits everyone, right? So you've got a very good headset, you've got some good audio." It's pretty decent for the average gamer. " It's a plug-and-play analog, pretty decent. And what makes the H3 and the H6 the perfect headset for gamers? I mean, what is the perfect headset? The H3, as mentioned, it's our entry-level headset." So the Xbox portfolio is the H3, closed acoustic, and the H6 Pro, open acoustic. " And we have actually brought that into the Xbox portfolio also now. Also taking our H3, which is like our entry-level closed acoustic headset." That is the big focus for the rest of the year now. Of course, then we have the H6 Pro, open acoustic now, with the Xbox design. " So we're actually focusing on them this year. We have some good sellers, still some good legacy products, such as Game Zero and GSP370 and so on." So that is what we're looking into right now. ![]() " We're right now looking into having some of our old co-branded products, turning them into Epos-only products. What can we expect from Epos in 2023 and potentially even beyond? I mean, in 2023, we're always working on trying to bring the newest stuff, interesting stuff to the market." And talking about products as well, tell us about your latest portfolio of devices. " And simply taking our open acoustic headset to Xbox, we thought that that was a good add-on. It's a great possibility for us to get into new audiences, getting into new target groups, you know." ![]() " What are they working with? I mean, it's a big organization, they do help us. " I mean, even though we have a long legacy, previously being known as Sennheiser Communications, and now for the last two and a half years, been called Epos, being part of the demand company, it is still crazy to have the possibility to work with Xbox and do a collab with them and doing this new design for our existing headset." You know, we're a big gaming publication, we're at a gaming event, so tell us, what's it like working with Microsoft and what can we expect with this collaboration with Xbox? Well, I mean, first of all, it's amazing being a small new company." " There's a bunch of different talking points that we're going to get to, but one that I want to start with is Xbox. ![]() As you can probably tell by the wonderful background behind us, I'm currently at Epos' booth in the Cole Messer at Gamescom, and I'm standing here with Michael from Epos to tell us about all the wonderful things that you're doing over there." (I understand why most would not want to take the time to do this, but it suits me.) I stay on top of repairs, too, and do a fair amount of taping at the bottom of pages to prevent page/spine separation. Our levels are categorized by rainbow colors, too, with red stickers on the spine for 1st grade, etc. In addition, it's MUCH EASIER when students type the # rather than the title. If levels are written inside books, it wastes potential student reading time and causes extra wear on the books as they are continuously opened and closed as children look at range levels. levels and test number sare on the front of each book. What you describe is similar to how I label A.R. ![]() How Accelerated Mortgage Payments WorkĪccelerated mortgage payments are the payment frequency options that will allow you to pay off your mortgage faster and save you potentially thousands in mortgage interest costs. A weekly payment is made every 7 days, and it being non-accelerated means that you will still be paying the equivalent amount of a monthly mortgage payment, just over smaller individual payments. To calculate it, you'll also multiply the monthly mortgage payment by 12 to get the amount that you'll need to pay per year, and then divide it by 52 weeks. The same thing happens with non-accelerated weekly mortgage payments. You’ll simply be paying it over two extra payments, which means each non-accelerated bi-weekly payment is smaller. You’ll still be paying the same total amount every year as you would with a monthly mortgage payment. For non-accelerated bi-weekly, you would calculate the payment by taking the monthly mortgage payment, multiplying it by 12 to get the amount to be paid every year, and then simply dividing it by 26 bi-weekly payments. Non-accelerated bi-weekly and weekly mortgage payments are based on what a monthly mortgage payment would have been. Accelerated Mortgage PaymentsĪccelerated bi-weekly and accelerated weekly mortgage payments also gives you the equivalent of an extra monthly mortgage payment every year, but it’s different from non-accelerated bi-weekly and weekly payments in that the mortgage payment amount is not reduced. Over a year, this means that you’ll be making 26 bi-weekly mortgage payments, to account for there being 52 weeks in a year.īi-weekly mortgage payments have two extra payments every year, equivalent to one month of mortgage payments, over the amount of payments for a monthly or semi-monthly mortgage payment. While two bi-weekly payments will be made for 28 days, a month has either 30 days or 31 days, except for February. Instead, bi-weekly mortgage payments are made every two weeks, which is considered to be every 14 days. You’ll simply divide a regular monthly mortgage payment into two.īi-weekly payments do not split months into two. With 12 months in a year, you'll be making 24 semi-monthly mortgage payments every year. Semi-monthly mortgage payments split every month into two. For example, you might make a payment on the 1st of the month, and another payment on the 15th of the month. With a semi-monthly mortgage payment, your mortgage payment will be made two times per month. ![]() Semi-monthly mortgage payments are not the same as bi-weekly mortgage payments. = 26 bi-weekly payments in a year Mortgage Payment Frequency and Payments Per Year Payment FrequencyĪre semi-monthly mortgage payments the same as bi-weekly mortgage payments? To end a great meal, my roommate let us mooch off her chocolate chip cookie bar leftovers (they had a layer of sweetened condensed milk in them and were utterly fabulous). We served this chicken pad thai with an ambiguously named “Asian side salad” that was oh so scrumptious. We fiddled with the amounts a little bit and substituted a slaw mix for the bean sprouts because we’re rebellious like that. My friend Meredith and I got together this afternoon for a much needed cooking break, and she found this awesome recipe from Creme de la Crumb that served as our inspiration. I love this with chopped peanuts on top and a squeeze of lime, but no matter how you opt to garnish it, this really stacks up to good restaurant Pad Thai! (And it does it in under thirty minutes. After a long week of essay writing and general stressing out about getting work done, few things could have tasted better than this chicken pad thai. Some varieties only require you to soak them in hot water, some you’ll have to boil - just follow the package instructions until your noodles are cooked through.Īnd then toss those noodles in with the sauce and the chicken and the veggies and it will all come together in a manner of seconds. You’ll likely see very thin noodles like vermicelli and much thicker wide flat noodles, but what you want is the kind that look a little bit like fettuccine. What kind of noodles? For Pad Thai, you want to use thin flat rice noodles, which you can find on the international aisle of your grocery store. If you don’t have any, you can add a little extra soy sauce to get a similar effect.Īfter scrambling up an egg and adding in some onion and bean sprouts, you’ll add back in the chicken, the sauce you just whisked up, and the noodles. Now, fish sauce isn’t going to make this taste fishy but it is going to add some wonderful umami. It’s not at all authentic, but it actually does approximate the flavor really well, I promise!Īnother key component that you might not have on hand is fish sauce. That being said, if you don’t want to pick some up, you can actually substitute a tablespoon of ketchup and a couple of tablespoons of rice wine vinegar. Now, tamarind puree isn’t something that we all have stocked in our pantry but it is reasonably easy to find at your basic grocery store. The sauce is (obviously) the key to the flavor in Pad Thai and one component that gives it that signature flavor is tamarind puree. While the chicken cooks, you’ll want to whisk together your sauce because the rest of the dish moves pretty quickly. That chicken is the thing you’ll cook first - just brown it up until it’s cooked through and remove it to a plate while you work on the rest of the components. One nice thing about Pad Thai is that you can dress it up with whatever protein you’d like - leave it vegetarian and just rely on egg, go with some shrimp you happen to have in the freezer, tofu is a natural fit… but we’re going with chicken here since that happens to be my favorite kind of Pad Thai. More or less, Pad Thai is a stir fry, and as you probably know, stir fries are a go-to for a quick and delicious dinner. And while one or two of those ingredients are a little bit specialized, it’s true, I’ve got some tricks for you if you don’t happen to have them in your pantry. In fact, it’s really very easy to make at home - a thirty-minute meal that doesn’t have a mile-long list of ingredients. While there are some dishes that are pretty hard to recreate in your home kitchen, Pad Thai is not one of them. Like me, you also might have relegated it as a “restaurant food,” one you only ever order out and never make at home. I know I am probably not alone in ordering Chicken Pad Thai every single time I go to or order Thai food.
